Aurora Australis
Have you ever witnessed nature's light show dancing across the night sky? This colorful display is often referred to,and known as ‘The Southern Lights’. What causes this illumination, Aurora australis?
The first thing to create an aurora is a burst from the sun, which is called a solar flare. This burst from the son is filled with ions, atoms and electrons.
The solar flare particles travel to the Earth's magnetic field. The Earth’s magnetic field acts as an invisible shield and directs the particles to the North and South Poles.
The ions go very fast and collide with other particles, this collision releases energy in the form of light.
The North Pole also has an aurora, it is called Aurora Borealis. It comes in different colors blue green purple and orange.
